Acclaimed architectural photographer Alan Karchmer will lead an exclusive ALPA Academy Photography Masterclass at the extraordinary location of Château La Coste near Aix-en-Provence, France, in 2025. Alan is author of Château la Coste: Art and Architecture in Provence, published by Merrell of London, and is the only photographer to be given exclusive access to lead a Photography Workshop at the domain.
This unique four-day workshop will allow up to seven photographers the rare opportunity to work closely with Alan, to explore and hope their skills, and create photographs of the astonishing collection of buildings and artworks.

ABOUT ALAN KARCHMER
For over forty years Alan’s photographs have been published in the architectural press worldwide, and been featured in major museum exhibitions He is proud to include among his clients winners of the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and Firm of the Year, the Royal Institute of British Architects Royal Gold Medal, and The Pritzker Prize. His photographs capture the spirit, life, and poetry of the architect’s vision. Alan’s expansive body of work was the subject of the recent retrospective exhibition Alan Karchmer: The Architects’ Photographer at the National Building Museum in Washington DC.

Set among the vineyards and hillsides in the spectacular landscape of Provence the art centre of Château La Coste hosts a collection of buildings by the most highly regarded architects of our time and site-specific sculptures by major figures in the world of modern and contemporary art.
Architectural works at Château La Coste include buildings by Tadao Ando, Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry, Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers, and Oscar Niemeyer. Artworks include sculptures and site-specific installations by Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Bob Dylan, Liam Gillick, Andy Goldsworthy, Jenny Holzer, Per Kirkeby, Larry Neufeld, Sean Scully, Richard Serra, and Ai Weiwei among many others.
