Architectural photographer René Dürr has been roaming his home city of Zurich with a medium format camera for more than 30 years.

Countless photographs have been taken during this time. Around 180 of them have now been collected for the first time in the photo book “Zürich by René Dürr”.

In six thematically organized chapters - including “Along the water”, “Heritage of industry”, “Hidden places” - Dürr guides us through the city with all its facets: he portrays the banking district and the magnificent buildings by the lake as well as the Langstrasse and industrial districts, the public parks and the hidden backyards.

What unites the pictures is Dürr's pronounced sense of composition, light and atmosphere, his unerring instinct for the right moment and framing. Each chapter is introduced by a knowledgeable and informative short essay by Zurich-based architectural historian and journalist Sabine von Fischer. In an interplay of images and text, of iconic landmarks and little-known places, “Zurich by René Dürr” paints a multi-layered, fascinating panorama of the city on the Limmat.
