Markus Bertschi, born 1970, grew up near Basel, Switzerland, until he completed his apprenticeship and qualified as a professional photographer.

He then moved to Zurich, establishing himself as a freelance photographer and also assisting other photographers on assignments.

‍

In 1997 he moved to New York to work for Hannes Schmid. For the next two years he travelled with him all over the world.

‍

Based back in Zurich, he's been working independently for clients in Switzerland and Europe.
